Babies And Toddlers
Baby and toddler classes focus on building water confidence, safety, and early movement skills through fun and play-based activities. With the support of a parent or carer in the water, little ones explore floating, splashing, kicking, and basic water movements in a safe and supportive environment. These sessions are designed to develop coordination, listening skills, and a love for the water—laying a strong foundation for independent swimming as they grow.
Stage 1
At stage one, we focus on building confidence in the water. Learners develop safe entries and exits. Lessons focus on floating, moving, and using swimming aids.
Stage 2
At stage 2 we are developing basic skills. We introduce safe entries (e.g., using steps). We continue to develop floating, gliding, and travel without support. We start to now introduce basic arm and leg actions for all strokes.
Stage 3
At level 3 learners start to gain some independence in the water. Learners swim short distances without support.
We start to introduce learners to deep water to start building their deep water confidence. We also cover kicking techniques and safe entries like jumping in.
Stage 4
At stage 4 learners are now building stroke technique: front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke. We Introduce breathing control and buoyancy skills. Learners will practice push and glide from the wall and streamlined positions
Stage 5
At stage 5 learners are now starting to develop coordination. Learners are supported to improve technique across all strokes with coordinated breathing. We also introduce treading water and sculling. Learners will be supported and aim to swim up to 10 metres with quality and control.
Stage 6
At stage 6 learners swim longer distances with better technique (25m+) and are able to perform all strokes with correct timing and coordination. We now introduce water safety and survival skills.
Stage 7
At stage 7 learners consolidate all skills and swim 25m of each stroke. Learners can perform rescues, tread water for longer periods. At this point, learners prepare for progression into club swimming, Rookie Lifeguard, or Aquatic Skills Framework (Stages 8–10).
Child One To One
Our children's one-to-one swimming sessions offer a focused and personalised approach, tailored specifically to each child's individual needs and learning style. Whether your child is building confidence, overcoming water anxiety, refining technique, or progressing through stages at their own pace, private lessons provide the dedicated attention and support to help them thrive. With a calm, encouraging environment and instructor-led guidance, one-to-one sessions can boost confidence, accelerate progress, and make learning to swim a truly rewarding experience.
